Deep water is generally drilled from underground aquifers
20 to 200 metres or deeper
Typically requires a drill rig to drill a borehole down to the water. Will require investigation on quality and quantity of the groundwater from the local region Department of Natural Resources or similar.
Typically deep water is often located at a distance from where it is ideally needed so pipelines and storage tanks are inevitably a requirement of this water source. It will also require a pump to get water to the surface, some form of control equipment and power source to run the pump.
Cost & Impact: An expensive but very reliable water system option offering long term solutions. A deep groundwater project must have a wide impact to make the cost worthwhile. Relatively high maintenance and running costs requiring extensive prior commitment.
